National Association for the blind (NAB) organized one day seminar on “Accessible Reading
International White Cane Day Celebrations

National Association for the Blind (NAB) celebrated “International White Cane Day” on 14th October, 2016 at Aasha Kiran Vocational Training Centre for Differently Abled, Sector 46 D Chandigarh by holding First ever Fashion show and Talent Hunt contest amongst the visually challenged. Participants were from Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal.16 Visually challenged girls participated in a first ever fashion show at Chandigarh for their final selection to represent NAB, Chandigarh and Punjab in Princess India contest at Mumbai. In other event of talent hunt contest for visually challenged, skills were evaluated in: Computer learning, Braille learning, Music, Dance, Declamation and public speaking, Overall Personality development and acting. Cash prizes were given to 24 individuals and 2 group songs selected by a panel of judges.
THREE TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR VI

National Association for the Blind in association with NIVH organized following short term training programs: · “Orientation to Reproductive Rights” on 19th November, 2016 · “Fire Safety and Eathquake Drill for VI students on 17th January, 2017 · “Training in use of Modern Assistive Devices” from 17th to 21st January, 2017.
“DIVINE EYES” MUSICAL PERFORMANCE AT CHANDIGARH CLUB ON NEW YEAR EVE

NAB “Divine Eyes” musical group had performed at Chandigarh Club on New Year Eve, followed by a scintillating performance by Punjabi pop sensation Jasbir Jassi live. Their talent was very much appreciated by the audience.
January,2017 : LOUIS BRAILLE DAY CELEBRATIONS

NAB celebrated Louis Braille day in January, 2017 at Chandigarh and Institute for the blind Jamalpur, Ludhiana. CDs, books and educational aids & appliances were distributed to all visually challenge.
ISSUE OF LETTER OF INTENT (LOI) TO START COMMUNITY RADIO STATION

NAB, Chandigarh and Punjab branch is the first NGO in disability sector to have been awarded a letter of intent (LOI) by Ministry of Information and broadcasting to start its own community radio station at 2 rooms allotted to us at Institute for the blind, Ludhiana.
FREE DAY CARE TRAINING PROGRAM WITH NATIONAL TRUST

We are also running Sahyogi Day Care Associate training with National Trust where 3 months and six months training is provided in Primary and Advanced courses.
NIRMAYA INSURANCE SCHEME FOR DISABLED

We have started a Project Niramaya to provide Insurance benefit to the persons suffering from Autism, Cerebral palsy, Intellectual disability and multi disabilities through National Trust and all these benefits will be made available from Institute at Ludhiana also.
NAB GETS TWO AND HALF ACRE LAND ON LEASE IN MOHALI FOR DEVELOPING A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION AND MEDICAL CENTRE

NAB has been leased 2.5 acres of land in Mohali by Punjab Government to build a world class Institute
